CHARLOTTESVILLE

Charlottesville is a medium-sized college town located in the rolling foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains in central Virginia. The metro area has a population of a little less than 200,000, and is an island of relative affluence in the area. The Baha’i community is also medium sized, at around 30 active believers in the cluster. They already had a website, but it was a very simple online calendar that told visitors almost nothing about the local Baha’i community. We wanted to create a new site that would really tell the story of the Baha’is and their connection to the city.

JERSEY CITY

Jersey City is a thriving secondary downtown of the New York City metropolitan area, located directly across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan. The city is extremely densely populated and one of the most diverse spaces in North America, with an outsize proportion of artists. Despite being home to one of the most prominent early Baha’is who met Abdu’l-Baha on his journey to America, Jersey City’s Baha’i population is medium-sized and growing quickly. The local Baha’i community often tag-teams with nearby Hoboken, which has a similar culture. The Baha’is did not have a website. We decided to create a website that would really tell the story of the Baha’is and their longstanding connection to the city.
